Sunglasses fail outdoors in two ways: they slide down your nose the moment you sweat, or they cut brightness without cutting glare. Rubberised temples deal with the first by gripping rather than resting, and polarised lenses deal with the second by filtering the reflected light that comes off water, wet tarmac and car bonnets.

Glare is what actually tires the eyes, and it is a different problem from brightness. A dark lens without polarisation dims everything equally and leaves the reflections intact, which is why cheap sunglasses can feel worse on a bright road than no sunglasses at all. These block UV to the UV400 standard as well, so the protection is not purely about comfort.

The full frame holds its shape and keeps the lenses in position through movement, which is what makes them usable for cycling, running and fishing rather than only for sitting outside. They are light enough for all-day wear and plain enough to keep on in a car. Store them in the supplied case, and clean the lenses with the cloth provided rather than a shirt.
