Stairs are where household falls actually happen, and the step that causes them is almost never the one people expect. Wet timber, a painted concrete step, a ramp with morning frost on it: all of them lose grip long before they look unsafe. An 80-grit surface bonded to the tread restores it.

Eighty grit is coarse enough to bite through a wet sole without being so aggressive that it tears socks or shreds a dog's paws. The rubber backing is weather resistant, so the strips keep working through rain, snow and the freeze-thaw cycle that lifts cheaper tape off within a season. That makes them as suitable for outdoor steps and decking as for an indoor staircase.

Each strip is pre-cut to 6 x 24 in (roughly 15 x 61 cm), which covers a standard step without measuring or trimming, and the peel-off backing means no tools and no adhesive to spread. Ten strips cover a typical flight. Clean and dry the surface thoroughly before applying, press firmly along the whole length, and let the adhesive set before the stairs are used.
