Eighteen inches of chained skull hangs by the front door and waits. It looks like a static prop until someone knocks, calls out or claps nearby, and then the eyes light red, the body twitches against the chains and the sound effects start. Hung by a door, a window, a porch beam or inside a haunted house room, it does the work of a much larger animatronic because it is right at the height where people are already looking.

A built in noise sensor handles activation, so there is no remote to keep track of and no motion mat to hide underfoot. Two LED lights sit behind the eye sockets and hold a steady red stare through the whole sequence, while the movement comes from inside the chained torso rather than from a swinging cord. It runs on three AA batteries, which are not included, and needs no assembly at all: unpack it, load the cells and hang it on the included rope.

A PE and fabric build keeps it light at just over half a pound, so a single hook or nail carries it, and the compact size fits display areas where a full figure will not. Keep it clear of open flame, candles and heat sources, and adult supervision is recommended around children and pets, because the sudden noise and movement can startle at close range. Store it dry with the batteries removed between seasons.
