Adjustable Monitor Arm

A monitor on its factory stand almost always sits too low. You compensate by dropping your chin, and after six or seven hours of that your neck and shoulders let you know. Raising the screen so the top edge sits roughly at eye level is the single cheapest ergonomic change most desks can make, and a monitor arm is how you get there without stacking books.

This arm is built from aluminium alloy rather than pressed steel, which keeps it rigid at full extension so the screen holds its position instead of drifting down over the afternoon. Height, tilt, swivel and rotation all adjust, so you can set an exact angle once or reposition through the day between focused work, a shared look at the screen, and a portrait orientation for reading and code. The gas-spring movement is smooth enough to reposition one-handed.

Clearing the base off the desk also gives you back the entire footprint the old stand occupied. Check your monitor weight and VESA pattern against the arm specification before mounting, and clamp only to a desk with a solid, flat edge.
